šŸŽ‰ 07 | The Acceptance Moment

šŸ“… March 31, 2025 – Becoming a GSoC Contributor

There are moments in life that feel unreal at first—and this was one of them.

On March 31, 2025, I received the email that made my heart skip a beat:

šŸ“Ø ā€œCongratulations! You have been accepted as a GSoC 2025 Contributor.ā€

I had been selected to work on LLM4S – Tracing Support with the Scala Center under the Google Summer of Code 2025.

Ā

šŸ˜„ The First Reaction

I reread the email at least five times.
Then I just sat still for a few seconds… soaking it in.

Months of exploration, community engagement, learning Scala, and writing the proposal—all of it had led to this moment.

šŸŽÆ It was no longer a goal. It was now a responsibility.

I felt proud. I felt ready. I felt grateful.

Ā

šŸ¤ Welcome from the Community

Within hours, I received warm messages from:

  • šŸ§‘ā€šŸ« My mentor, Kannupriya Karla

  • šŸ›ļø The Scala Center maintainers

  • šŸŽ“ Fellow contributors across other GSoC projects

I was added to the internal channels, mailing lists, and project boards.
This wasn’t just selection—it was onboarding into an ecosystem.

Ā

šŸŽ“ What It Meant to Me

Getting into GSoC wasn’t just a resume booster.
It validated my belief that curiosity, consistency, and community matter more than perfection.

It reminded me that:

  • You don’t need to know everything—just be willing to learn.

  • Contribution starts with initiative, not expertise.

  • Every message you send, every line you write—it counts.

Ā

šŸ”‘ Reflections

If you’re still waiting on your GSoC result—or hoping to apply in the future—remember this:

🌱 Success in GSoC isn’t random. It’s a seed that grows from research, effort, and connection.

For me, this day wasn’t the end of a journey—it was the beginning of something bigger.
